Dear Testdroiders,

Today, we’re happy to announce that Testdroid Cloud has advanced to version 2.8 and is readily available for everyone. As always, it’s a good idea to clear your cache files from browser and check out the latest and greatest version. This time we have bunch of great new features that will make your testing yet more easier and more informative.

whatsnew

Interactive / Remote Manual Access to Devices

We have offered a possibility for users to do testing with specific versions of browsers or regular apps that can be uploaded as an APK before the device session starts in Interactive. This feature is still there, but we’ve now added a possibility to start a session without any application or pre-defined setup.

In addition, you are allowed to rotate device freely now with Interactive and resize the screen to be suitable for your display. We’ve also added some basic new functionality for real-time logs and you can now pause and clear log content. Also, something that is not visible but surely you will find it out when heavy-using Interactive is our improved queuing system for Interactive sessions. Now it takes much less time to get a session started and the system manages sessions (e.g. booting, cleaning and preparing devices for you) much more efficiently. Take a look – you’ll love it!

New Authentication Method / API Key

We’re now offering a new, additional way to authenticate sessions at Testdroid Cloud. The API key is generated per user when signing up for the service. The API key simplifies the login procedure as you don’t need to use access token all the time, it improves also the security side of things as you can login to service via API and you don’t have to put your user credentials (username and password) in scripts anymore. The API key is configurable under your profile in Testdroid Cloud, Profile -> My account -> API key:

And if you need to reset your API key, just click ‘Reset API key’ button next to the key. The text string is copy-pasteable.

Improved Performance Measurement and Test Automation Features

One of the top requested feature has been a frame-per-second (FPS) measurement for Appium tests. This is especially great feature for game developers, but also anyone else using Appium can now get their performance measured. The feature is available for Appium tests at Testdroid Cloud and can be configured for you. Please contact us to get your Appium tests measured with this feature.

Furthermore, there are hundreds of smaller updates, bug fixes and enhancements we’ve been doing since the last release. The new Testdroid Cloud provides really robust and excellent set of features – that you’ll surely love!

Happy Testing!
