It’s almost 9am in Poland right now. Sun is shining thru cold (almost) winter wind. We are excited to roll out some great new features to welcome the holiday and new year. Well, let’s grab a cup of good coffee and check out what’s new in the latest two versions. Shall we?
Improved Performance of Manual Testing
Well it’s not like mainly UI change, because a lot of effort has been made on the invisible for end-users side, but man this is fast! Manual Testing is now about 4 times faster than before! Before we could provide about 1-2 FPS, now it’s constant 8 (for our enterprise customers we can probably even go above this limit!).
You definitely need to try it out! I promise that you will not regret it! 🙂 We will detail more in another blog.
New Device View in Manual Testing
We replaced old device selector with a new one in the Manual Testing view. Now you can also access your Device Groups and much easier to select the device, for example, to troubleshoot the reported issue.
One exciting thing: In the near future we will add a shortcut in the device run view so you can start Manual Testing session on a certain device right away. Cool huh?
Dynamic Device Groups
This is a feature that has been requested by our customers for some time already. At last, it’s here! You will need to bind filters to get your device groups dynamic. If you want to create a new device group with bound filters then it’s very simple:
- Go to Devices view
- Select filters and click Apply filters
- Click yellow box on the right with title Create new group
- Select Selected filters or Selected devices and filters
- Submit by clicking Create button
In this scenario, you are choosing the only initial content of device group. This means that Device Groups are content-agnostic. This is why all device groups (even created before 2.49) support it.
One thing to highlight is that in device groups created with Selected devices and filters, you will at the same time have manually added devices and devices dynamically updated by our technology. With dynamic device groups, you will never miss a single device that matches your mobile device testing criteria.
I hope that below tutorial will help you to start with new Device Groups in our system.
Media Widget in the Device Run View
Screen Recorded Videos now have better visibility after moving them to the same widget as screenshots so far. The thumbnail functionality for the recordings is under development and will be available very soon. Meanwhile we reused the same gallery plugin for unitary user experience.
The new User Dashboard helps to understand the usage of your account. As the main user, you will be able to monitor the overall metrics, account usage and testing status, while sub-users will only see the information related to your individual account.
Enterprise: Device Version Distribution
We have additional sweets for our Enterprise customers – 2 new widgets added to Admin Dashboard. System Administrators will now be able to have a better understanding of the distribution of device OS versions in their Cloud.
As always feel free to comment and share your thoughts here or at one of our social profiles.
That’s all! I wish you
fruitful testing Merry Christmas and see you next time!
