At Bitbar, we truly believe that test automation scales up the mobile device testing efficiency and helps teams to maximize device coverage and improve confidence when it comes to keeping up your app release frequency. But it doesn’t really negate the need for manual testing, as it is a good way to reproduce real-world scenarios and troubleshoot special issues on specific devices.
By understanding our users’ use cases for manual testing, we decided to revamp the remote device control service and now we are excited to introduce a more powerful service for Android and iOS manual testing at Bitbar Cloud.
How it got started
A couple of months ago, we did a short survey within our user community regarding how our users have been using manual testing at Bitbar Cloud and how the manual testing approach is adopted in their entire mobile app testing and DevOps strategy.
The responses were valuable to us and we were motivated to put efforts in re-developing our manual testing capability from the scratch. Let’s quickly walk through some key results collected in the survey.
A Shiny New Remote Device Control at Bitbar Cloud
Ever wondered if our manual testing service could be fast enough to allow you play mobile games for fun or watch a streaming video while controlling devices remotely? Now it is realistic.
The previous manual testing capability was around 1-2 FPS, but now we’ve improved it 4 times faster than before making it constant 8 FPS. It would be possible to go even faster in a privately hosted environment with dedicated devices. For Enterprise customers, you can request the access to the iOS manual testing service today. And we will make it happen for Public Cloud customers very soon.
